Who is responsible

Each school using BeMela decides what data it records about its students, families and staff, and is responsible for it. BeMela processes that data on the school’s behalf and only on its instructions. For this website and our own customer relationships, BeMela is responsible.

What we collect

• School records entered by a school: names, contact details, enrolment, attendance, marks, fees, timetables and documents.
• Account data: name, email or phone, role, and sign-in activity.
• Technical data: device and browser type, IP address and error logs, used to run and secure the service.
• Enquiries: what you send us when you contact us or request a demo.

How we use it

To provide the service, keep it secure, send the messages a school chooses to send, provide support and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal data or use school records for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run BeMela, such as hosting, email, SMS and payment providers, under contracts that limit their use of it, and authorities where the law requires. Each school’s data is kept separate from every other school’s.

How we protect it

Encryption in transit, access limited by role, audit trails of changes, regular backups, and encrypted storage of data kept on devices for offline use.

How long we keep it

For as long as the school’s subscription lasts, and then for a limited period so the school can export it, unless the law requires longer.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your data. If your data was recorded by a school, ask the school first; we will help it respond. For anything else, write to info@be-mela.com.

Cookies

This website uses no tracking or advertising cookies. The application uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in securely.

Changes

We will post any change here and update the date above. Material changes are announced to schools in advance.
